Updated Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Info

Below is up to date (as of 1/12/21) information about accessing Save Our Stages or SOS grant funds that you may be eligible for from the Federal government via the SBA, Small Business Administration. This grant is also called “SVO” or the “Shuttered Venue Operators” grant by the Government. The funds will be administered by the SBA.

As you may know the Federal Government just released $15 billion in SOS or “SVO” relief funds for live performance venues, indie movie theaters and cultural institutions who have faced financial hardship due to the pandemic shut down.

Here’s how to find out if you may be eligible for these SVO funds and how to apply for a grant from the SBA:

1. AM I ELIGIBLE? Go to www.nivassoc.org/sos-act and find out if you may be eligible.

2. STAY INFORMED ON SOS/SVO: Apply to be Member of the National Independent Venue Association or “NIVA” (its free to apply) and sign up for our New Jersey - IVA or “NJIVA” email list here.

3. PREPARE TO APPLY NOW:

  • First, get a DUNS number here

  • Then register on SAM (Click on the dark blue login button in the upper right corner). SAM stands for System for Award Management (SAM), and is an official website of the U.S. government. There is no cost to use SAM. You can use this site for FREE to Register to do business with the U.S. government, like for getting an SBA grant. Do this now as it may take some time for your registration to process.

4. ORGANIZE YOUR FINANCIALS: We don't know what documents the SBA will ask for, but we know they will ask for financials.

5. GET THE APPLICATION: It’s not available yet but if you sign up for the New Jersey - IVA or “NJIVA” email list here or follow our blog we will provide this information to you as soon as we have it from NIVA. You can also apply to be a Member of NIVA and if you qualify for Membership, you will receive more information from them on the Member email.

Thank you. We wish you all the best at this challenging time for our industry.
