Dear NJIVA Associate or Venue:
As you know, State relief in the form of $15 million in federal CARES Act funds was approved in early April for arts and culture live performance venues around New Jersey.
NONPROFIT FUNDING GRANT GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN RELEASED:
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is in charge of distributing $7.5 million of the $15 million in relief funds, and has recently released guidelines for their application process for nonprofits.
Awards will be voted on in late July and by the Council and issued in September/October.
If you are a nonprofit venue, you can apply now for a grant following the instructions included here.
WE ARE STILL WAITING ON FOR-PROFIT VENUE RELIEF FUNDING GUIDELINES:
The NJ Economic Development Authority (EDA) is in charge of distributing $7.5 million of the funds to independent private venues.
Currently, the EDA is working on finalizing the application process.
Awards are expected to be announced at the end of the third quarter, and funding to be released in the fourth quarter.
Additionally, indie venues' continued wait for federal SVOG relief has made national news in this CNN interview with NIVA Board Member Audrey Fix Schaefer. Hundreds of indie venues have gone under awaiting funds, and those that haven't are struggling to reopen without aid.
We are looking to increase press coverage of the plight of New Jersey's indie venues. If you have contacts and would like to assist, please feel free to reach out to scully@hopewelltheater.com to bring attention to this important matter.
Stay tuned to our emails, blogs, and social media for news about the status of State relief funds.
In Solidarity,
Sara Scully
